for a company that has made padlocks for 1000 years, I'm surprised Master designed this lock. Most people look for the combination line to be in the middle of the padlock. This lock they are to line up at the TOP of the wheels. they give you two little black marks to indicate this, but they wear off if the lock is outside. and add to that the distinct line/seam from the assembly of the lock that IS in the middle, it LOOKS like it should line up in the middle. Every single time a friend or family member or service truck has needed to get to my property I get a call, "what am I doing wrong it won't open with your code" so I tell them to line up the numbers at the top not where they assume they should. Finally (see picture) I put fingernail polish from my wife on the top to indicate HERE is where you line up the numbers. see that line in the middle? it fools everyone, just a flat out design fail. besides that the lock works fine. the rubber wheel cover fell off the first week and is not a great feature but I can live without that. This lock is tough well made and sturdy. It has a solid feel to it. Setting your own combination is exceptionally easy. But the dials are small numbers are hard to see and it’s cumbersome to dial in the unlock code. Still worth buying.Bought these to replace same I bought 15 years ago and getting all rusted being outside near salt water. The old ones were reliable and performed well for 15 years.... can't complain. Easy to program your own combination.Easy to use weather proof lock no keys needed.I use this lock to secure a side gate to my property. The lock is solid and well-crafted. You can set and reset the combination easily, in case you want to give someone temporary access.Especially with outdoor locks, I have found it essential to periodically (ideally every three months in outdoor settings) apply a lubricant to keep the lock working smoothly. A Master Lock lubricant with PTFE (also sold on Amazon) has worked well for me over the years. Combine that with a Ring spotlight camera, and you have a pretty good, self-installed security system. A small price to pay for peace of mind, really. The black cover on the bottom is a joke. But other then that. Its perfect. This is a nice lock. My only complaint is that I can't see the numbers after the sun goes down. I have used a couple different flashlights and the numbers are impossible to read. They should make them neon. Well, maybe it's better this way in that thieves will have a hard time breaking in. Ha!I wanted a keyless system to lock my trailer (I hate keys) this padlock does the trick but has not been tested in bad weather yet. The seal seems good and I don’t expect any problemsI've had it on our bike shed for just over a month. In that month we've only had about 1 week of rain and temperatures have been between 5 - 18 degrees Celsius. The numeric dials have corroded so badly that we almost were not able to open it. It looks like it's 200 years old.Received my brand-new Master Lock on Thursday the 20th via Amazon's usual quick deliveryOpened the package on Saturday night and followed the directions to change the combination...No amount of cajoling or tweaking would get the tiny key to turn so the tumblers could be changed...No matter right...?Like anything made in mas quantities, I got a bad one... get a replacement... right? It's brand-new...Nope... sorry Dude... no return policy comes up as the sole option on Amazon's return windowSo, I'm out $21 and I'm sorry about thatThis review is to hopefully save you from the same waste of money...Poor product, stopped working inside 3 months, not of saleable qualityI've got quite a few of these around my property - on deck boxes, sheds, etc. The oldest is two years old and still functions no problem without any visible signs of wear. It is slightly stiffer but that's to be expected having survived a few Canadian winters completely exposed. I once bought an alternative "weatherproof" lock that rusted in a few months... Went right back to this one. Slightly more expensive than competitors but worth it.Very disappointed in Master. It used to be the only brand I'd buy. In recent this is the second master product that has let me down. I've sent the lock back because it can't be closed easily, the combo line is at the top which confuses people, the numbers hard to rotate after a rain. Poor quality all around. Sorry Master but I will not purchase your products again your quality is gone completely
