This is not a DIY product if you are locked out of your safe, as we were when the battery cable broke off our 24 year old Amsec keypad. After reading the instructions shipped with the new Amsec ESL10XL, it was clear that this was a job for a qualified professional, not us. Some of the locksmiths we contacted told us they would have to drill out the old lock. Nonsense. We hired a well-reviewed safe expert to do the replacement and we are glad we did. It was not straightforward. He advised us to replace both the keypad as well as the lock at the same time for best results, and he spoke highly of this brand and model.
